Set sail, the wind is blowing!

Never Give All The Heart

Never give all the heart, for love
Will hardly seem worth thinking of
To passionate women if it seem
Certain, and they never dream
That it fades out from kiss to kiss;
For everything that's lovely is
But a brief, dreamy. Kind delight.
O never give the heart outright,
For they, for all smooth lips can say,
Have given their hearts up to the play.
And who could play it well enough
If deaf and dumb and blind with love?
He that made this knows all the cost,
For he gave all his heart and lost

~William Butler Yeats

This poem I dedicate to a friend of mine who has been drunk with love so long that he didn't realize that it has long passed him by.
He played everything by the book, guarded his love with every effort humanly possible.
But the mover of hearts has never been mortal, so the heart goes its own way according to His plans.
I dearly hope he is stronger when beaten to the ground and rise as never before.

And remember every time you give away a piece of your heart, to keep a portion to yourself. You can't lose it all by just that one person.
You still have your life before you and your family and friends that need your presence.

To drown and die in the sea of need is a curse of the unrequited love. So when you set out to give a part of you to another, make sure that that person is really waiting and longing for you to reach their side soon.
If not, look up to the stars and navigate away into the night.
Even if the sky is dark, press on.
No use waiting, that harbor is no longer there.
But the wind is blowing, and you must set your sails bravely through the open sea.
InsyaAllah, you will realize one day that you were only scarred and unbroken. And of course, there's someone out there who's waiting for you to arrive ;)

Elephant in the fridge

Can you fit an elephant into a fridge?
Definitely yes, if it's big enough.
But if it is so clearly not, then why are you so adamant in placing the elephant in there? Go, search for a zoo or something. Why are we even considering this in the first place?
Hmmpph :(

I can never stop wondering why we people like to insist in fitting enormous things into little containers.
Our mind is limited, but we talk as if it is boundless and judge others that differ from us as deviators from the true path.
Things are often bigger than who we are, bigger than all the world put together.
For me, leave the unanswerables to time. If you were meant to know, then eventually you'll know. I just mind my own step, hoping to God that I don't slip and fall down on my face to the mud.

On the "Allah" issue, I think that even if in the Quran here's nothing to bar non-muslims from using the term, maybe we should look at it using a local perspective. Mind you, I am just stating my views and there's nothing for any of you to shout about. Islam, after all, is easy and is always peaceful. So what is the most peaceful route?
Using a local setting, maybe the best way is to preserve the use of "Allah" to Muslims only as it would (I think it would, anyway) disturb the peace of the country.
I know other faiths use the term freely in their country, in their setting. But, try looking at the local scene? The same cannot be said here.
However, I actually do not agree to the stance that we should preserve the use of the term because we fear that people will confuse their God and become infidels.
I doubt people now are that flimsy. If they are, then we really do not need them in our faith because there is no force for anyone to stay or go out of Islam. Our strength is not in numbers, but by the solidness of our faith.
I only want to preserve the use because it would retain the peace.
So, please stop trying to fit the elephant into the fridge? It won't fit. Just try and think where to put the elephant into the proper place so that we can all go on with our lives.

I was just browsing through the endless articles on the web and it hits me that everyone has a perspective, everyone has a point that he wishes to make. All that is well: in the vast universe of the world wide web, anyone can claim a spot as his/her own and they can very well do as they please on that spot. Just as long that it doesn't trample on other's rights.
To do that, is an art you have to learn and will acquire through experiences.
Because I feel that there is no fixed rule to anything. No black or white. Only gradients of grey.
One course of action can be correct for a set of situations but would be totally stupid in another. A diamond can be hiding under slurries of mud and the devil can wear a smiley face.
Nothing is ever what it seems.

I googled 26

yes, today I'm supposed to be toiling away extracting RNA that's due for report on Monday. But wth. I'm gonna do it tomorrow, seriously :p
However, i find myself googling 26, which is a significant number for me this year as I was born on 26th Jan and I'm turning 26 years old this year.
Some things I find interesting about this number is:
1. Pierre de Fermat proved 26 is the only single number between a square (25 = 52 ) and a cube (27 = 33 )
Hahaha, c'mon, "the ONLY single number". 26 is sure special :p

2. A rhombicuboctahedron has 26 sides.
I didn't realize that such a polygon exists.

3. The number 26 is the atomic number of iron
...and the fact that I have iron deficiency is just so ironic.

4. 26 is the "joke throw" in the game of darts, where a player throws 20, 5 and 1 when aiming for 20 (or treble 20). In professional darts, throwing 26 usually results in sneers or laughter from the audience.

5. Precipitevolissimevolmente with 26 letters is the longest word in the Italian language. it means "as fast as possible"
6. There are 26 letters in the alphabet and there's even an association called 26, which is an association for people with love of words.
I wonder, is this the reason I like reading and writing? huhuhu, nonsense :p

7. 26 January is Australia Day
I must go there sometime

Oh, and I have the same birthday as Ellen DeGeneres. So as a parting quote, this is what she said:
The good psychic would pick up the phone before it rang. Of course it is possible there was noone on the other line. Once she said "God Bless you" I said, "I didn't sneeze" She looked deep into my eyes and said, "You will, eventually." And damn it if she wasn't right. Two days later I sneezed.

Enjoy your holidays, everyone! :)
