Is there any text/evidence that supports this? Thanks.

about that, dear anonymous (may I know your name?), I am truly sorry as I am not an expert. This selawat was taken from the album "Selawat 10 Hajat" by Nowseeheart and Ustaz Aidit. This is their email http://www.akademiaidit.com/contact.html so that you can contact them about your enquiries

Thanks for the prompt reply. Actually the question was meant to be a thought-provoking one ;) The virtue of reciting such selawat was new, and since you posted it I was hoping that you had verfied it before doing so. I'm nizaM btw.

a thought provoking one? haha, sorry, I thought u really wanted to know :p
Yes, my bad for not checking it thoroughly before posting. Actually I trusted the source, being sung by accomplished artists and ustaz without any intervention by IKIM saying that it is wrong. The virtue is also from the CD, as can be referenced from the link I included. However, I think it is better to ask Ustaz Aidit himself by going to his website to verify his source.
Xpe, xpe, I'll post the audio file.

tapi kan, problem juga kan sbb x senang nk verify benda2 mcm ni, especially org2 mcm saya yg biasa2 saja. take for granted the authorities are doing their job..huhuhu

Ok, what would you say if I proved to you that the mentioned is actually sort of baseless and shared with you instead supplications that were taught and practised by the prophet - peace be upon him - ;) ? Sorry if my language is a bit direct, I didn't know how else to phrase it. :d

Ice Rose Princess said...

I'd say "Please do, thank you" ;)
But really, please do tell. If I believe you then I'll change the post and not include the virtues. Another thing, do you also contest the selawat itself? Is it from a reliable source? I am asking as I really want to know.
However, please do not remain anonymous in the comments section. State your name and website to prove you are really who you say you are. Fair enough?

Thank you, thank you so much for giving me this opportunity to share. I however, do not have a website, twitter or friendster account. (I am thousands of miles away actually ;)All I have is an e-mail address which I will mention in the next post.

I understand that relying on the internet or on anonymous people alone is not enough for us to place our trust in something. Sometimes, it may not even be safe or encouraged. Thus, do not take whatever I write or mention at face value, but instead consider it the end of a thread which is just the beginning and it is up to each and everyone of us to pull at it ourselves to unravel the whole picture. :D

More on the selawat and supplications of the prophet in the next post, inshaAllah. Thank you, once again.

nizaM.

Allah the Almighty has in many verses of the Quran enjoined his Prophet - peace be upon him - to remember Him and sing His praises during the two parts of the day, i.e. before sunrise (after fajr) and before sunset (after asar). He, the most Glorious, says: "And sabbih (say Subhanallah) in praise of Your Lord in the evening and in the morning." [40:55]. He also says: "And remember your Lord by your tongue and within yourself, humbly and with fear without loudness in words in the mornings, and in the afternoons and be not of those who are neglectful." [7:205].

And the Prophet - peace be upon him - has set for us the best examples in terms of remembering Allah in each and every situation. Of the many supplications that were practised by the Messenger, the morning and evening supplications (known in Arabic as أذكار الصباح والمساء) hold a special place due to their unique character and added virtue and protection for the one who recites them. The following are a few pearls from the best of guidances ever given to mankind:

"Abu Huraira said, "The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, would say in the morning, 'We have reached the morning and the kingdom belongs to Allah and all praise belongs to has no partner. There is no god but Allah and to Him is the gathering.' In the evening he would say, 'We have reached the evening and the kingdom belongs to Allah and all praise belongs to Allah who has no partner. There is no god but Allah and to Him is the return." (Reported by Al-Bukhari in Al-Adab al-Mufrad).

He (peace be upun him) said "The best supplication for forgiveness is to say: "O Allah, You are my Lord - there is no god but You. You created me and I am Your servant; and I uphold Your covenant and [my] promise to You as much as I am able. I seek refuge in You from the evil I have done. I acknowledge before You my sin, so forgive me. Indeed, there is none who can forgive sins except You." He (peace be upun him) added, "Whoever recites it at morning with firm faith in it and dies the same day will enter Paradise. And whoever recites it in the evening with firm faith in it and dies the same day will enter Paradise." [Reported by Al-Bukhari]

And he (peace be upun him) said: ''There is not a servant [of Allah] who recites every morning and every evening: 'In the name of Allah with whose name nothing in the earth or the heavens can cause harm, and He is the Hearing, the Knowing' three times but that nothing will harm him.'' [Sahih Al-Jami by Al-Albani].

There are many more such supplications as taught to us by the Messenger of Allah - peace and blessings be upon him -. For the Arabic version of these supplications, check out this link:

Meanwhile, the 'selawat' mentioned is not found among the ahadeeth that pertain to the morning and evening supplications. Thus, it was not the practice of the prophet nor of his companions and all those who followed in his path - peace and blessings be upon him -, for if it was it would have been narrated by the companions to those after them and so on until it reached us in the same manner the actions and saying of the prophet - peace and blessings be upon him - reached us. And I humbly challenge the proponents of the mentioned selawat to bring forth evidence that states the selawat as it is and the virtue mentioned along with it, as is the case with all the supplications that were taught to us by the Prophet. In the case of the morning and evening supplications, the Prophet not only taught us what to say, but also how many times and also taught us the virtue of doing so. So contemplate the detail of this prophetic guidance and its preciseness and see if the mentioned selawat carries the same characteristics.

Lastly, I would like to apologize for the extremely long post. I feel kind of sheepish actually ;) Also, if any of the above appears to be harsh, blunt or direct then I truly apologize for my inability in finding a better manner to share with yo what little Allah has blessed me with. Awaiting your reply.

All I can say is: wow. And Thank you for finding time to share all this with me, I really appreciate it. To tell you the truth, I really am overwhelmed with all that info.
So basically u r saying that the aforesaid selawat is something that is made up and does not come from the Prophet Muhammad p.b.u.h. Therefore the virtues stated is false and implied. Right?
Ok, I can accept that.
However, is it wrong for someone to sing it or is it wrong for someone to believe n propagate the virtues? Or both is wrong? Whatever the source, you can't deny that it is a beautiful song. So wouldn't you think it would be a good way to deliver the message of Allah to the masses in forms that is arguably easier to be accepted (ie: music)? Provided that they do not say and believe the virtues that supposedly come with it. Just as a means for remembrance of Allah swt and the Prophet pbuh. Can that be accepted? Sorry for my many questions, hope u don't mind.
Keeping my promise, I'll remove the virtues.

So you joined plurk.com? Are you really in Egypt? Are you a Malaysian? I just assumed you are by your understanding of BM. What is the time difference btwn there n Malaysia?
Btw, even if u r thousand miles away, the internet makes distance irrelevant ;)

Not at all, in face I am happy to see you engaging in the discussion. There is nothing wrong in singing it as long as it doesn't contain anything that is contradictory to the teachings of the Prophet inshaAllah. However, describing it as selawat pelindung diri would in fact need additional supporting proof. Also, there is no doubt as to the face that the supplications taught by the prophet are much better, carry more blessing and offer more protection :) And yes, you are right that since it did not come from the Prophet then the virtues mentioned are sadly not true.
As for the issue of spreading the message of Islam using music... well let's say that's another discussion for another session (cerita panjang he he..)

Anyway, away from the topic... Firstly let me say it was really wonderful of you to engage me in the discussion and remove the mentioned virtues and do all with an open heart. It's just amazing! It's truly difficult to come across such people these days.

Yes, I am really in Egypt, I've been here for the past 8 years! Man, I miss home. Just graduated a month ago and am thinking of furthering my studies here. Read your latest post on Phd studies... kinda freaked me out actually :P The time difference is currently 5 hours and will be 6 hours by tomorrow due to the daylight saving system (yes, they still use it in Egypt). I actually saw your post on your mother's flu and it brought back memories of mine, so I had to leave a comment and Plurk told me I had to sign up to do so and so I did. ;)

Ok, that settles it then. I removed the virtues but the name stays because that is the name supplied by the CD. I wouldn't want to be summoned for copyright issues :p.

So what r u studying there? Btw, Congratulations on ur graduation! :)
Why are u still there even after a month? It's great that ur thinking of furthering your studies, and I support it too. No pain no gain ;) haha

You have to express more your opinion to attract more readers, because just a video or plain text without any personal approach is not that valuable. But it is just form my point of view

dear anonymous,
I'm not really planning to attract more readers, but thanks for sharing. Maybe I will, someday. Is it right for me to assume that u blog too?
